Over the course of his career Stu has taught countless professionals how to prepare for Media Interviews and to Speak in Public. As a television reporter with Global TV Stu won numerous awards for his work, ended the careers of politicians, spoke out on behalf of those who didn’t have a voice and made a difference.

In 1998 Stu left reporting and created Oh Boy Productions, a production company producing Truly Compelling Videos for TV, Corporate Clients, Government Agencies and Not for Profits.

He is an exceptional trainer and speaker. On Message is the culmination of his career combining his news, training and video story telling talents to offer you an insider’s view of how the media works and how you can work with reporters to meet your messaging objectives.

John Stufflebeem was the voice of the American forces during Operation Enduring Freedom to the world. Based at the Pentagon, Stufflebeem daily briefed more than 200 reporters from around the world. He is an accomplished spokesperson, speaker, and thought leader having delivered speeches and addresses in more than 20 countries. A powerful advocate for the strategic initiatives that companies must pursue in today’s dynamic environments, he regularly addresses industry and government leaders around the world, providing guidance on their most complex communications and management challenges.

Stufflebeem is an advisor and mentor to military commanders in NATO, US Ambassadors throughout Africa, the Near and Middle East. He works with major energy and shipping corporations in the U.S. and internationally, shipping ports, their authorities, and U.S. Homeland Defense agencies including the U.S. Coast Guard and the International Maritime Organization. John brings firsthand experience from the White House as an aide to the president during the crises in Panama, Iraq, the invasion of Kuwait and for the U.S. government.

Small Group Workshops

Stuart McNish and John Stufflebeem host intensive workshops to help you develop your communication skills and prepare you to engage the media. A typical workshop would include:
  1. Assess skill level of participants –we work directly with you, reviewing past media encounters, strategies and knowledge to establish a base. In the process developing the language and skill set that prepares you to be confident and ON Message.

  2. How the Media works – Examine the media; how it works, its priorities and its deadlines. Changing paradigms in an Internet world creating differences and similarities in all media. Understanding  their worldview means you position your message so that it will be heard.

  3. Message Calibration System
    1. Negotiation – an interview is a business transaction. Understanding the terms of engagement levels the playing field. 
    2. News Analytics – Learn how different news outlets and reporters cover different topics – know their bias going in.
    3. Framing – Learn how to choose the words that evoke the emotional response you want from the reporter. Framing is the Holy Grail of media communication.
    4. Key Messaging –  Craft the statement that survives the Journalism process and evokes the reaction you want from the reporter and their audience.
